loss of lip volume
Why are your lips deflating — and how to restore them without looking overdone.
Deflating lips are one of the first — and most noticeable — signs of aging. What was once plump and hydrated slowly becomes flatter, duller and less defined. But volume loss in the lips doesn’t mean you need to look “done.”
At POUTx, we restore lips using our signature HydratedNOTinflated™ method — a technique that rebuilds lip structure and hydration while keeping everything soft, balanced and undetectable.
why do lips lose volume?
Lip volume loss happens for two main reasons — and neither is fixed by simply making lips bigger.
aging & collagen breakdown
As you age, collagen and elastin production drops, fat pads shrink and the skin becomes thinner. This leads to flatter lips, loss of definition and fine lines around the mouth.
bone resorption & facial changes
The support structures around the lips — the upper and lower jaw — also recede with age, causing the lips to lose projection, fold inward and the upper lip to lengthen.
Sun exposure
Smoking
Dehydration
Poor skincare
The result? Lips that look deflated, undefined and less expressive — often before you notice other signs of aging on the face.
why random lip filler won’t work.
Here’s the problem: most lip filler is applied with one goal — “make it bigger.”
But when lips have lost volume due to aging, just making them bigger won’t restore their shape. It can lead to distortion, overfilling or a “duck-like” result that actually ages the face further.
Hydration before size
Structure before volume
Balance before projection
That’s why we created HydratedNOTinflated™ — our lip filler method that focuses on restoration, not inflation.
HydratedNOTinflated™
If you’re experiencing lip volume loss, this is your method. It’s the technique we use on every lip — because it works, it lasts and it looks like you.
right patient
Your lips must present with lines of deflation. If they’re already perfect, adding will look overdone.
right product
Chosen for your natural lip volume — not your request.
right plan
The amount is set by a full lip assessment. We never use a full syringe in one sitting.
right technique
Micro-threads of filler, evenly distributed throughout the lip body.
right adjustment
Final adjustments at the 2-week mark, once everything has settled.
Rebuild natural shape and contour
Add hydration and elasticity to aging lips
Avoid distortion or migration
Restore projection and smooth texture
Enhance volume gradually, in layers, if desired
We can’t deliver our signature outcome on top of another artist’s work. When you get a manicure, you don’t paint over old shellac.

what you’re probably wondering.
“can I just buy a half syringe?”
No. It isn’t sanitary to share syringes between clients, so we don’t sell half syringes. Filler is priced per syringe — that doesn’t mean we use the full syringe. The amount we use is calculated from your assessment.
“I have old lip filler.”
We always recommend returning to your previous provider to have it removed. If you’d rather not, we offer dissolving — $500 per session, and it may take more than one.
“how long does it last?”
Most clients top up every 12–18 months, once signs of deflation start to return.
“how much will I need?”
That’s decided by your lip assessment, not a menu. See quick info →
